College Composition / Unit 12 CMP 0277 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Global and Local Revision
Captions available
The idea
Global revisions change a piece as a whole, its content, structure and organization; local revisions change a sentence or a word.
In practice
Inserting a missing section, deleting a tangent or moving a paragraph is global; replacing a vague word is local.
Where people slip
Make global changes before local ones, so you do not polish what you later cut.
Your place on the trail
Every lesson rests on earlier ones and opens later ones. Tap any to jump.
