Evaluating Exponential Functions

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Evaluating an exponential function substitutes the input into the exponent and computes by the exponent rules.

Show

For f(x) = 3·2ˣ: f(3) = 3·2³ = 3·8 = 24 — the exponent first, the coefficient after.

Watch for

The base carries the exponent; the coefficient never does.

Builds on

  • Nothing — this is a starting point.

Unlocks

  • Nothing yet depends on this.
