Molar Mass

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

A substance's molar mass is the mass in grams of one mole, numerically equal to its formula mass.

Show

Carbon-12's atomic mass is exactly 12 amu, so one mole of carbon-12 atoms has a mass of 12 grams to within any laboratory precision.

Watch for

Atomic mass and molar mass share a number, not a unit: one is amu, the other grams per mole.
