Naming Binary Molecular Compounds

A binary molecular compound is named with the more metallic element first, the nonmetallic element second and ending in -ide, each carrying a prefix.

SF6 is named sulfur hexafluoride: sulfur first with no prefix needed, fluorine second with the hexa- prefix and the -ide ending.
Watch for
Unlike ionic naming, subscripts here are stated through prefixes rather than inferred from fixed ion charges.
