The Tyndall effect is light scattering by colloidal particles, large enough to interact with light where a solution's particles cannot.

Show

A flashlight beam is visible crossing a foggy room, as water droplets scatter it, while the same beam stays invisible through clear salt water.

Watch for

A colored solution's beam still stays invisible — its particles are too small to scatter light.
