The idea
In a plant cell, cytokinesis builds a new cell wall outward from the center, as Golgi vesicles fuse at the metaphase plate to form an expanding cell plate.
In practice
A cell plate grows outward until it merges with the existing wall, splitting the cell into two walled daughters.
