Carbon Fixation by RuBisCO

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Carbon fixation is the enzyme RuBisCO attaching a carbon dioxide molecule to RuBP, converting inorganic carbon into an organic, three-carbon compound.

Show

RuBisCO combines each incoming carbon dioxide molecule with a five-carbon RuBP molecule to produce two molecules of three-carbon 3-PGA.

Watch for

Carbon fixation is the Calvin cycle's entry point for carbon dioxide, distinct from the light-dependent reactions that supply its energy.
