Community Interactions: Competition

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Competition is a community interaction where two species or individuals use the same limited resource, reducing both's fitness, whether through direct interference or indirect resource depletion.

Show

Two plant species drawing on the same limited soil nitrogen compete even without any direct contact.

Watch for

Competition need not involve physical confrontation — resource depletion alone produces the same fitness cost as direct interference.
