Oviparity, Ovoviviparity, Viviparity

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

In oviparity, fertilized eggs develop outside the body on yolk; in ovoviviparity, eggs develop inside the parent on yolk; in viviparity, offspring develop inside, nourished through a placenta.

Show

Most mammals develop viviparously, nourished through a placental connection rather than yolk alone.

Watch for

Ovoviviparity and viviparity both retain the embryo internally, but only viviparity transfers nutrients directly.
