Leukocyte Types, Introduced

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Leukocytes, or white blood cells, defend the body against pathogens and comprise several distinct types, including phagocytic cells and lymphocytes, covered fully in this unit's immune-system chapter.

Show

Leukocytes make up a far smaller share of blood volume than erythrocytes, despite their defensive importance.

Watch for

This entry only introduces leukocytes as a blood component — their mechanisms belong to Bio 3259 onward.
