Tendons versus Ligaments

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

A tendon connects muscle to bone and transmits contractile force across a joint; a ligament connects bone to bone and stabilizes the joint against excess movement.

Show

The Achilles tendon transmits calf force to the heel; the anterior cruciate ligament stabilizes the knee.

Watch for

A torn ligament and a torn tendon fail differently — one loses stability, the other loses pulling force.
