The idea
Vesicles and vacuoles are membrane-bound sacs for storage and transport, differing mainly in that a vacuole is larger and does not fuse with other membranes.
In practice
A transport vesicle can bud from one organelle's membrane and fuse with another's, carrying its cargo between them.
Where people slip
A vesicle's membrane fuses readily with others; a vacuole's membrane does not.
