Metabolic Rate: BMR and SMR
This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.
State
Metabolic rate is the energy an animal expends over time, measured as basal rate at rest in endotherms and standard rate at rest in ectotherms.
Show
A smaller endotherm has a higher BMR per body weight than a larger one, losing heat faster through its surface area.
Watch for
BMR measures a resting baseline — active metabolism runs at a multiple of it.
