DNA and RNA are the two nucleic acids built from nucleotide chains, differing in sugar, strand count, and one of four bases.

DNA carries deoxyribose, usually pairs into two strands, and uses thymine; RNA carries ribose, usually stays single-stranded, and uses uracil instead.
