Building a Phylogenetic Tree from Shared Derived Characters

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

This procedure builds one small phylogenetic tree from a table of shared traits, applying homology, clade structure, and maximum parsimony together.

Watch for

Counting a trait's presence across species is only the first step — sorting which traits are shared-derived versus shared-ancestral for this particular group is what actually builds the tree's structure.
