Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 8 AIL 0748 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Form Against Structure
Captions available
The idea
Form is the outward pattern; structure is how the argument moves through it. A sonnet's form is fourteen lines, and its structure is the turn at line nine or line thirteen. The next unit takes structure, which is the harder and more examined half.
In practice
Pattern outside, argument inside.
Where people slip
Structure is the more examined half.
