The idea
Open-form poems frequently build on repeated grammatical shapes, a series of clauses all beginning the same way. The effect is incantatory and it derives from scripture and oratory rather than from metre. Unit twelve takes the rhetorical version of the same device.
In practice
Repeated grammar, incantatory effect.
Where people slip
The lineage is oratory, not song.
