Trap: Answering From Spelling

Captions available

The idea

Sound devices are about sound. Two words beginning with the same letter may not alliterate, as in cat and city, and two words spelled differently may rhyme perfectly. Read with the ear rather than the eye, and the glossary's eye-rhyme entry exists to mark that trap.

In practice

The ear decides, not the letter.

Where people slip

Same letter, different sound, no alliteration.
