Sound as Argument

The idea
A question may ask what a sound device contributes rather than what it is called. Repetition binds words together and asks the reader to compare them; harsh consonants slow a line; open vowels lengthen it. Name the device, then say what it makes the reader do.
In practice
Name it, then say what it does.
Where people slip
The effect question follows the naming one.
