Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 17   AIL 1613 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Verse Drama

Captions available

The idea

The commercial theatre of the period wrote in blank verse, which unit six defined as unrhymed iambic pentameter. Marlowe and Shakespeare both used it, and units thirteen and fourteen worked scenes from each. The band's drama and its poetry are the same material.

In practice

The plays are poems as well.

Where people slip

Drama and poetry overlap here.
