Analyzing and Interpreting Literature / Unit 13   AIL 1224 short lesson, about 20 seconds

"Now Might I Do It Pat"

Captions available

The idea

Hamlet says now might he do it pat, now the man is praying, and now he will do it. Pat means neatly or conveniently. Three nows in one line and a half, and the repetition marks a man talking himself toward an act.

In practice

Three nows, and a drawn sword.

Where people slip

Pat means neatly, not affectionately.
