Oedipus Against Hamlet
Captions available
The idea
Oedipus speaks in ignorance the audience already holds; Hamlet acts on a belief the audience is given moments later. One irony is sustained across a play and the other is sprung in a scene. Both are dramatic irony, and the exam can ask which shape a passage uses.
In practice
Sustained, or sprung.
Where people slip
Two shapes, one device.
