Scene and Summary

The idea

A scene renders events at something like their own pace, with dialogue and detail; summary covers time quickly. The glossary defines neither. Where a passage slows into scene is where the writer wants attention, and that is a mechanical clue to significance.

In practice

Where it slows, it matters.

Where people slip

Pace marks significance.
