ACT Preparation / Unit 4 ACT 0313 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The End Carries the Emphasis
Captions available
The idea
The most emphatic place in a sentence is the end. Put the idea readers should remember last, and context or background earlier.
In practice
"The team won the title despite injuries all season" ends on the injuries; "Despite injuries all season, the team won the title" ends on the win.
Where people slip
Neither order is wrong. The question is which idea the passage needs to stress.
