The idea
Some passages give two figures that share a quantity. A value read from the first can be carried into the second through that shared quantity.
In practice
Invented figure 1 gives a lake's temperature by month; figure 2 gives oxygen by temperature. Together they give oxygen by month.
Where people slip
Confirm the shared quantity has the same units in both figures before carrying a value across.
