The idea
Born in Austria in eighteen eighty-nine, Hitler was rejected by Vienna's art academy twice and lived in flophouses, absorbing anti-Semitism and racial pseudo-scholarship. He volunteered for Germany in nineteen fourteen, was gassed and wounded, and found the trenches exhilarating. The army sent him to watch a Munich fringe party.
