The Hyksos and the Arrival of Bronze

Captions available

The idea

About sixteen fifty B.C.E. the Hyksos, leaders of foreigners, seized Lower Egypt and quickly Egyptianized. They brought bronze, horses and the chariot. Bronze is copper alloyed with tin, harder than either.

In practice

The Middle Kingdom's end about seventeen twenty; the Hyksos in the delta.

Where people slip

The anchor's chapter two calls bronze copper and zinc; its chapter three gets it right. Copper and tin.
