The M-CaReM-AI Method: Defining Work for AI / Unit 9 MCM 220 review, 2 to 3 minutes
The Whole Method
The idea
The closing entry, constructed for this course, puts the whole method back together and returns to the question the course began with.
In practice
Across these units, the method has moved through the same small number of moves, each answering one question. Phase one asked what the world is made of, and answered with an inventory and a map, including the things nobody touches until an auditor asks. Phase two asked what is being done to those things, and answered with cards that always name the thing, the change and the fields. Phase three asked where everything about each thing is kept, and answered with Packs, at the depth each thing's risk deserves. Phase four asked whether any of it matches reality, and answered with people who do the work, one thing at a time. Phase five asked what else must change when something changes, and answered with matrices for the things that matter most. At every step, AI drafted, summarized and suggested, and at every step it also invented a field, generalized a rule or missed a dependency, and the method's frames caught it. The library and the hospital are different worlds, but the same moves worked in both.
Where people slip
The method in its smallest form is still the reflex from unit one: whenever anyone, or any tool, proposes a requirement, ask which thing it is about and what that thing is made of. Everything else in the course is a way of making that question's answer shared, written down and safe to change. Start with one thing, one card and one Pack in your own work, and let the method grow from there, one thing at a time.
