From Notes to Pack Changes

The idea

A worked example, constructed for this course, uses an AI tool to turn the session notes into proposed Pack changes, with the steward deciding each one.

In practice

The analyst gives the tool the Silver Loan Pack, her written notes, and the instruction to propose changes section by section, listing every change, and to touch nothing the notes do not support. The tool proposes six changes. Four match the notes exactly: the scope exclusion, the returning branch field, the lost state, and the open question with its owner and date. A fifth is reasonable but unrequested: it adds a transition from lost back to active if the item is found. That is the finance officer's position, not a decision, so the steward rejects it and notes that it depends on the open question. The sixth is wrong. It rewrites the definition to say a Loan may be extended indefinitely by renewal, apparently generalizing from the renewed state. The steward rejects it. She then runs the two-way check from unit six, comparing old and new versions, and finds nothing unlogged. She approves version one point one of the Loan Pack, with four changes, and adds In-Library Use to the inventory as a new Bronze thing with its own seed Pack.

Where people slip

The tool saved real time on the four correct changes. It also tried to settle the parked disagreement and to quietly change the definition. Both were caught because the steward treated every proposal as a proposal, which is the method's line between a scribe and a judge. Accepting all six would have taken one click and quietly reversed the session's most careful decision.
