The idea
Device fragments are broken pieces of instruments or devices, such as a drill bit, a broken instrument tip or a guidewire tip.
In practice
Broken devices and saved parts are set aside for examination, and every part is accounted for.
Where people slip
If a device breaks during a case, say so at once, so the surgeon can look for the missing piece.
