Resistant Organisms
Captions available
The idea
Multidrug-resistant organisms are bacteria that certain antibiotics can no longer control.
In practice
Examples include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, called MRSA, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, called VRE, and Clostridioides difficile, a spore-forming bacterium.
Where people slip
Resistant infections are harder to treat and more dangerous, so preventing spread in the first place matters even more.
