Jane Addams and Hull House
Captions available
The idea
Jane Addams built sociology that acted, founding Hull House to study immigrant neighborhoods and change conditions at the same time.
In practice
A community clinic's intake form for a checkup also feeds a housing-conditions survey, sending data straight into a reform campaign.
Where people slip
Applied research is not lesser research; the method still had to hold.
