What Sociology Is
Captions available
The idea
Sociology is the systematic, scientific study of groups, societies, and social interaction, from two people talking to whole nations.
In practice
A sociologist studying a commute counts riders, watches who sits where, and asks what the unwritten seating rules are.
Where people slip
The subject is the pattern across people, not the psychology inside one of them.
