The idea
Durkheim classified suicide by two social conditions — integration, a person's bonds to a group, and regulation, the grip of shared norms — with too little or too much of each producing a type.
In practice
Too little integration is egoistic, too much altruistic; too little regulation anomic, too much fatalistic.
