Established Sects
Captions available
The idea
An established sect is a sect that persists for generations without growing into a denomination, holding a mixture of sect-like and denomination-like traits.
In practice
The Amish and Jehovah's Witnesses are classed as established sects on this continuum.
Where people slip
An established sect is not a failed denomination; persistence without growth is its own stable category.
