Social Sciences and History / Unit 10 SSH 0934 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Latitude, Water, and the Other Controls of Weather
Captions available
The idea
Latitude is the first and most significant control of temperature: the equator absorbs more than it radiates, the poles the reverse. Water needs five times the energy per degree, specific heat, so coasts change slowly. Ocean currents, altitude and mountain barriers follow.
In practice
Continental climates far from water.
Where people slip
Pressure and winds are the anchor's missing chapter; 0935 carries what exists.
