The idea
Classical liberals defend rights, limited government, free trade and capitalism; Mill's harm principle enlarged freedom; the Depression added regulation, Hayek dissenting. Marx held capitalism destined for overthrow. Fascism answered communism with heightened nationalism and racial doctrine; both extremes were totalitarian.
