Captions available
The idea
The trade balance is the gap between a country's exports and imports. In most high-income economies goods are under half of production and services over half. The current account balance adds to goods and services the flows of investment income and unilateral transfers, one-way payments.
In practice
The merchandise trade balance: goods alone.
Where people slip
Financial capital finances trade and investment.
