Self-efficacy is a person's belief in their capability to carry out the actions needed to reach a specific goal.
In practice
Two equally skilled employees differ in whether they attempt a difficult account, and the belief predicts the attempt.
Where people slip
Self-efficacy is domain-specific. High efficacy in one area predicts little about another.
