The Wechsler Scales
Captions available
The idea
The Wechsler scales are standardized intelligence tests reporting verbal and performance indices as well as a full-scale score.
In practice
An adult with strong verbal comprehension and weak processing speed produces an unremarkable full-scale score.
Where people slip
The index scores are what clinicians use. The full-scale figure is the one the public knows.
