Employment Discrimination
Captions available
The idea
Labor-market discrimination is paying workers of the same skill differently by race, gender or religion. A pay gap between groups is not proof by itself; education, experience and hours must be equalized first.
In practice
Two equally credentialed workers paid differently is the test case.
Where people slip
One view says competition punishes discriminating employers; another that customer prejudice can make it pay. Both attributed.
