Philosophical skepticism holds that knowledge in some domain—or in all domains—is impossible: our justifications never reach far enough.
In practice
Local skepticism doubts one region, such as the future or other minds. Global skepticism doubts the whole building.
Where people slip
The skeptic is not a contrarian mood. Skepticism is an argument, and it must be answered with one.
