Cogency

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

A cogent argument is an inductively strong argument whose premises are all true—induction's counterpart to soundness.

Show

"Every observed emerald has been green, so the next will be": strong, true premises, cogent.

Watch for

Cogency still guarantees nothing. A cogent conclusion is a well-earned bet, not a certainty—and that is the most induction ever offers.
