The idea
A reading of ninety over sixty or lower is considered low, a condition called hypotension.
In practice
Causes include dehydration, bleeding, heart conditions and medication side effects; confusion, a weak, rapid pulse or cold skin with a low reading needs immediate attention.
Where people slip
Report low readings promptly, especially with symptoms or after standing up.
