The idea
Three US laws protect exceptional learners, children with special learning needs. Section five hundred four of the Rehabilitation Act, from nineteen seventy-three, requires accommodation in any federally funded programme. The Americans with Disabilities Act, from nineteen ninety, bars disability discrimination and extends protection to employment and public facilities. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act guarantees a free appropriate education from birth to twenty-one, in the least restrictive environment.

Where people slip
Every child receiving special education under IDEA has an individualized education program, known as an IEP. Exam items often pair a description with a law: accommodation in a funded programme is Section five hundred four, the education guarantee is IDEA, and broad protection against discrimination is the ADA.
