Activity Guidelines

The idea

US guidelines recommend adults get a hundred fifty minutes of moderate activity a week, or seventy-five minutes of vigorous activity, or an equivalent combination.

In practice

Brisk walking, gardening and dancing in short bouts adding up across a week, plus muscle strengthening on two days.

Where people slip

The vigorous minutes are an alternative, not an addition; any activity is better than none.
