Scripture Still Needs Judgment

The idea
Religious texts do not settle moral questions by themselves; reading them for guidance uses moral judgment about which passages govern and how.
In practice
Two believers, one text, opposite verdicts on capital punishment — each citing chapters. The difference between them is judgment, and judgment is moral reasoning.
