The idea
Shelley's Defence of Poetry, answering Peacock, called poets "the unacknowledged legislators of the world." Keats, in a letter to his brothers, defined Negative Capability: being "in uncertainties, Mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact & reason."
