Matching Victorian Poems and Poets
The idea
Sort Victorian poems by poet. Tennyson wrote "Ulysses," "The Lady of Shalott," In Memoriam, "Break, Break, Break," "Crossing the Bar," "The Charge of the Light Brigade" and Idylls of the King. Robert Browning wrote "My Last Duchess," "Porphyria's Lover," "The Bishop Orders His Tomb," "Fra Lippo Lippi," "Andrea del Sarto" and The Ring and the Book. Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote Sonnets from the Portuguese, Aurora Leigh and "The Cry of the Children." Arnold wrote "Dover Beach." Christina Rossetti wrote "Goblin Market"; Dante Gabriel Rossetti "The Blessed Damozel" and The House of Life. Hopkins wrote "The Windhover," "Pied Beauty" and "God's Grandeur." Housman wrote A Shropshire Lad; Kipling "Recessional" and Barrack-Room Ballads; FitzGerald the Rubaiyat; Carroll "Jabberwocky"; Swinburne Poems and Ballads. Then check the clue: a dying bishop or a jealous duke is Browning; a mirror and a curse is Tennyson.
In practice
