The Great Odes of 1819
Captions available
The idea
In eighteen nineteen Keats wrote his great odes: "Ode to Psyche," probably first, "Ode to a Nightingale," "Ode on a Grecian Urn," "Ode on Melancholy," "Ode on Indolence," and, last, "To Autumn." Each meditates on beauty, transience and the limits of imagination.
In practice
Six odes in one year.
Where people slip
"To Autumn" is the last of the odes.
